“Connecting, Sharing and Learning”–Shanghai DLC Representatives Attended GDLN-AP 2008 General Meeting in Jakarta

On July 8, the Global Distance Learning Network Asia Pacific (GDLN-AP) General Meeting kicked off at Jakarta, Indonesia. More than 40 Distance Learning Center (DLC) managers and regional coordinators from Thailand, Vietnam, China, the Philippines, Timor-Leste, Australia, India, Japan, Indonesia and the World Bank were at the meeting. As two managers of Shanghai DLC, Melody Wang and Richard Liu from Shanghai DLC at Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Center also attended the 3-day gathering.

With Connecting, Sharing and Learning as the theme of the meeting, the managers and coordinators discussed many issues of common concern to all DLCs, including the difficulties and opportunities facing each DLC, how to push forward the programs of distance learning, and how to reshape the GDLN-AP management for the future.

In conjunction with the meeting, the Indonesia GDLN was officially launched by the Minister of National Education Republic of Indonesia on July 9. It is a joint partnership between Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) and Indonesia Higher Education Network (Inherent). Through this network, GDLN Indonesia now covers more than 220 public and private universities across the archipelago.  This expanded reach opens up huge opportunities to share knowledge both within Indonesia and with other countries.
